Good news from the folks over at CWTV!  They decided to lift the ban on watching Gossip Girl episodes on their website.  So this season Gossip Girl Episodes will be available via online streaming video.

The CW has lifted its ban on Internet streaming of “Gossip Girl.”

The network made headlines last spring when it announced it would stop streaming episodes of the buzzworthy soap opera on its Web site. At the time, CW executives described it as an experiment.

Turns out the experiment didn’t quite work out.

Ratings for the show didn’t go up noticeably. And fans protested loudly (even though the show was still available for purchase on iTunes).

Now CW Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff says “Gossip Girl” will once again be streamed on the network’s Web site, as well as other sites. The show also will continue to be available for purchase online.

Some great GG scoop on Blair, Nate & the “older woman”.  From Kristin @ E!Online:

Nair, we hardly knew ye.

Inside sources are spilling on the latest romantic entanglements on Gossip Girl’s Upper East Side, including news that the show’s original golden couple, Nate and Blair (”Nair”), aren’t reconciling any time soon—thanks to a certain new cougar who’s ready to pounce.

This pretty (older) kitty is none other than Mädchen Amick (ER, Viva Laughlin), who, according to CW insiders, will appear in the season premiere on Sept. 1 and is expected to hang around for four or five episodes.

Word is, Mädchen is heavily involved in Nate’s storylines and also has “a surprising connection to another new character on the show.” (The kind of connection that juicy twists are made of…and that’s too good to reveal.)

Still, if Chace Crawford (Nate) has his way, this won’t be the last of his love interests. “Nate’s kissed every girl on the show, and I think it’s going to keep going toward that direction,” he dished to me at a recent CW event. “Well, except Mrs. Van der Woodsen, but give it time!”

As for Queen B, don’t feel too sorry—she’ll have another boy to keep her occupied all season long. “You’re not blind. You can see there’s chemistry [between Blair and Chuck],” Leighton Meester [Blair] told me while shooting her upcoming guest spot on HBO’s Entourage. “It’s cute. But I think this time around it might be different because the first time it was just like this drunken, passionate thing, and it just went away, like, the very next day. I don’t think Blair really wanted it, but maybe this time she does. Maybe she needs him. Maybe he completes her.”

The former Twin Peaks star, Madchen Amick will be joining the Gossip Girl cast, as Catherine Mason, Nate’s “older”, new love interest. This is very cool. I loved Twin Peaks! Here’s the scoop from EW’s Hollywood Insider.

The Upper East Side is about to get its very own Mrs. Robinson! On next season’s Gossip Girl, a sizzling cougar named Catherine Mason will tempt young Nate (Chace Crawford) with a little May-December love. She’ll be played by Madchen Amick, last seen in CBS’ Viva Laughlin as the wife of a small-time casino owner. Amick will join the cast when Girl returns to the CW on Sept. 1.

Good…I thought that sounded kind of silly.

Attention, Upper East Siders: “Little J” has not left the building.

This is the latest coming out of Camp Gossip Girl after the Hollywood Reporter reported this morning that executive producer Josh Schwartz and his crew are working on a Gossip spinoff, most likely surrounding Taylor Momsen’s character, Jenny Humphrey (aka Li’l J), who was the subject of a spinoff series for the Gossip books.

I just emailed Schwartz himself to get the real story, and he tells me the rumors are not true:

“Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment,” Schwartz tells me. ”The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start.”

Holla! Personally, I’m thrilled to hear that Schwartz is keeping his creative mojo focused on the two shows we already know and love: Chuck and Gossip Girl, you?

A well-placed source inside the CW also tells me there are no current plans for a spinoff; however, “If the second season does as well as we expect it to, then we’ll probably try to make it happen.”
